Atour Town Parent-Child Centre
The public toilet at Aduo Town serves both local residents and tourists, significantly improving the quality of urban supporting facilities in the area. The architect led the entire process from site selection to design. The project is strategically located at the foot of a cliff on the site, effectively restoring the topographic scars left by the elevation difference during previous construction. The green roof with soil covering and vegetation creates a natural transition with the surrounding landscape. Meanwhile, the courtyard of the toilet opens directly to the square, ensuring high visibility and easy recognition.
The doors and windows of the toilet are hidden behind the curved walls of the courtyard, with functional entrances guided by signs—resulting in a building with only one prominent facade. This facade is constructed with vertically jointed curved white composite aluminum panels; the 7-meter-tall integral panels are perfectly suited for the single-curved surface design. In terms of functionality, the design adheres to the principles of restraint and intensification, avoiding redundancy while incorporating a mother-and-baby room and a gender-neutral restroom. Since its completion, the project has achieved remarkable comprehensive benefits.
