「Elderly Care Center in Wuchang District」Wins 2025 MUSE Design Awards Gold Winner
The 2025 MUSE Design Awards recently announced its winners. GN Architects' Elderly Care Center in Wuchang District, Wuhan, a wellness interior design project, stood out from a large number of entries for its outstanding wellness community concept and design, earning it the Gold Winner of this international design award.
As one of the most influential international awards in architecture and design, the Muse Design Awards is a professional international design competition founded in New York, USA, and hosted by the International Design Awards Association (IAA). It is renowned for its rigorous judging system and high-quality standards. The MUSE Awards has become a premier platform showcasing rising stars in global architecture, interior design, product design, landscape design, lighting, furniture design, and fashion design, earning it the reputation of the "Oscars" of the design world.

The Elderly Care Center in Wuchang District, located on floors 1-7 of Building 11, Jiyu Wanxiang, Wuchang District, Wuhan City, Hubei Province, is the first local wellness complex project of the Wuhan Health & Elderly Care Group. Wuhan Kangyang, established in March 2024, is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Wuhan Urban Investment Group and the only municipally-owned comprehensive health and elderly care service platform established in accordance with the city government's organizational plan. Focusing on inclusive elderly care services, the company is responsible for promoting the integration of elderly-related resources across the city, driving the expansion of the elderly care industry, and promoting the high-quality development of Wuhan's elderly care sector.

The project design is dedicated to exploring a new paradigm for future all-age health and wellness communities in the city's core areas. Adhering to the principles of "multi-dimensional integration, flexibility and diversity, and respect for life," the design focuses on a functional framework for all ages, striking a balance between spatial aesthetics and age-friendly details.
The design focuses on the issue of population aging in the city's core areas, exploring how to transform existing high-rise office buildings into an all-age health and wellness complex geared towards future social structural changes. Unlike conventional decorative approaches of "functional filling" or "material stacking," the design focuses on spatial system reconstruction. Utilizing a "box structure + multi-generational integration" scenario, the design creates a participatory, co-constructive, and tangible daily life ecosystem, integrating seniors equally into the fabric of urban life. Through meticulous spatial design, the integration of age-friendly technologies, and a warm, humanistic expression, the project has created a model for a future-oriented wellness community with both design leadership and emotional resonance.
