The shortlist for this year's Dezeen Awards China was previously announced. A total of 43 projects were shortlisted across eight categories in the architecture field, with only five to six projects shortlisted in each category. -- Atour Town Parent-Child Centre, , Qingdao

This Parent-Child Centre nestled in the mountains will enhance the quality of public life for residents of the surrounding villages while also attracting tourists and visitors. We designed a rolling roof, beneath which reside four independent functional areas: a multi-purpose hall, a cinema, a staircase, and a café. These functions can be independently accessible to the public or organized through the lobby, ensuring efficient and convenient operation.
The design considers the space as a curatorial setting, with each functional space, wall, and roof forming part of the exhibition. Upon completion, we are delighted to see that this building has improved the community ecology, the lives of surrounding residents, the visitor experience, and even boosted the regional economy.
